The sisters from Immaculate Heart of Mary and Blessed Mary Angela Convents in Buffalo, NY, received the best St. Felix Day gift ever!
At 1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 18, the feast day of St. Felix of Cantalice, patron of the Felician Congregation, the sisters moved outside in the rain and also to various windows facing the front of the building. All of a sudden, car horns started tooting and a parade of 30-35 cars drove through the front driveway.
And who was it? It was their sisters who had come from as far away as Dunkirk, as well as area associates!
Organized by SM Ruth Warejko, local minister at St. Teresa of Avila Convent in Akron, NY, sisters from nine local homes with at least ten cars of associates drove in with their windows open, blowing bubbles and displaying signs and balloons with many wishes of love.
At one point, they came from their cars and, with one voice, sang "We'll Go a Long, Long Way Together." S Paul Marie Baczkowski said, "There was applause, waving, tears, and laughter in the rain."
Sisters who live at the convent were deeply touched by the simple gesture of love that meant so very much.
Deo Gratias was the reaction of the afternoon.
Sister Paul Marie reflected, "Our sisters and associates have no idea how much they lifted the spirits of the sisters from IHM and BMA."
As the sisters returned to the convent, their level of happiness had increased a hundredfold. "Our hearts cannot thank our sisters and associates enough!"
